Alexander Zonjic’s Philly-Detroit Smooth Connection with Maysa, Jeff Lorber, Doc Gibbs  and the Motor City Horns Detroit International Jazz Festival Downtown Detroit Monday, September 1 8:15 – 9:45 PM, Chase Main Stage “In a career that spans three decades, flutist Alexander Zonjic has dabbled and excelled in everything from jazz to classical to rock to instrumental pop. Simply put, he’s all about pushing his limits and trying new things” (Concord Music Group). The Detroit-based Zonjic leads this DJF “smooth connection” that features singer/songwriter Maysa, Philadelphians Jeff Lorber (keyboards) and Doc Gibbs (percussion), and The Motor City Horns: trombonist John Rutherford, saxophonist Keith Kaminski, and trumpeters Bob Jenson and Mark Byerly. They’ll be joined by Wayne Gerard (guitar), Chris Codish (keyboards), Kenny Brooks (drums),  and Terrance Palmer (bass).
